Forstner Bits

For the flat-bottomed cut/hole inside wood, a novel tool known as the Forstner Bit is used. The Forstner bits are named after their inventor, Benjamin Forstner. These bits are great to bore precise, flat-bottomed holes in wood. They can be easily used in any orientation with respect to the wood grain, cut on the edge of a block of wood, and cut overlapping holes too.

The Forstner Bits find use in drilling through veneer which are already glued to wood. It is great to add an inlay, but can’t be used with compact drills, since it requires great force to push them into the material.

Use in drill presses, lathe-machines rather than in portable drills, these bits give you a flat bottom hole/bore with precision. Audel features many such bits by leading manufacturers such as Metabo, suitable for different types of wood including hard and soft wood, veneered wooden boards etc. These bits come complete with centering point, main cutters, ring cutters and other important tools/accessories.
